NAG Calender Events Archive. / NAG London activities at June 2023
« on: June 07, 2023, 02:31:50 AM »
NAG will hold two naturist picnics, 12 August at Hampstead Heath, 3 September at Beckeham Place Park. Three separate naturists have offered the chance for other naturists to meet at their flats in various parts of London. There is a new naturist facility in East London. We also need a volunteer to take on the role of NAG London co-ordinator. Details of these activities are in the attached letter.

I also have details - on request - of the latest from our Paris naturist colleagues, to show what can be done when naturists co-operate. on the day there will be a contact telephone no to check for canceleations it is 07565736738

This is my last letter, after 12 years, as NAG London co-ordinator.  John Paine

NAG General Discussion. / Re: Police to the rescue
« on: May 28, 2023, 03:22:00 PM »
Richard Collins is a naturist who has a long history of promoting being naked in public. The fact that Sussex Police officers are more aware of the law relating to public nudity than a Metropolitan Police Service officer from London is no surprise. NAG faced the same issues at our naturist picnic at The Welsh Harp reservoir in Brent, London, in the summer of 2022. On that occasion local Met police officers responded to a call from a supervisor of school pupils because they 'witnessed' the naked picnickers.

We explained to the two officers what the law says and gave them a copy of the Police Guidelines on responding to reports of public nudity. They had never seen them before, despite the Guidelines being issued to all Chief Cnstables in 2018, and took them back to their local station for their colleagues to see.

NAG is currently in a dialogue with the Commissoner of the Met Police, Sir Mark Rowley, about the continued lack of awareness of his officers as to the existence of the Police Guidelines. In response to NAG raising the issue this year we have been told that internal discussions are now taking place within the Met training division on this matter.

It would be good if naturists in London contact the projet group and find out more. When the new arrangements are in place for running the NAG London Group any feedback would be welcome.

Whether the concept of naked swimming would be welcome, at a new facility which will be family-orientated, remains to be seen. That dos not mean that NAG supporters should not discreetly explore the options!

Our small management collective (Mancol) constantly monitors our campaign activities. Each project leader will adjust, where relevant in the light of experience, and create steps to take forward any NAG campaign. We have several campaigns running simultaneously, to promote naturism and get better public acceptance. Remember, all of the NAG work is done entirely by volunteers - who are also busy in other community actions.

The Mancol itself has had recent changes of people, which is a natural ongoing process. We created an opportunity on 29 January for NAG supporters to engage in a webinar dialogue with the Mancol by Zoom - with little response that Saturday evening. Elsewhere on this website, and in the Bodybook, you will find update information about the very many things that NAG is doing.

We appreciate feedback from supporters. We constantly look to provide ways in which each of you can help with making naturism better understood by the public and various authorities.

This is an update on NAG action in progress, or planned, at June 2021. It contains a number of campaigning issues on which your comments would be appreciated.   John Paine, chair of NAG

15
Thanks for posting that Duncan.

I am thinking of broadcasting the basic details more widely, so that any naturists likely to be in New York at that time can contact George - if they may wish to participate - or just to build it into their NY itnerary.       John Paine

Thanks for giving that information Chris. We would encourage naturists using the park to take photos and enter the competition. On 1 August NAG is planning to hold a naturist picnic at Beckenham Park Place, look under NAG Calendar of events for details.  John Paine, NAG Chair

NAG Calender Events Archive. / NAG 2021 activities in the UK
« on: April 30, 2021, 02:25:13 PM »
Now that we are nearing the end of Covid restrictions - fingers crossed - many NAG activities are being planned around the UK.  The Mancoll 30 March meeting notes, already posted under Management Information, mention some. The long list of NAG London activities is posted in this website section.

Other UK activities being developed, in addition to the London ones, include: naturist picnics at Nottingham, Clacton, beach campaigning in S. Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Essex, Sussex, walks in Sherwood Forest, naturist cycling. If you have an idea for a NAG naturist campaigning activity, with a location in mind, I would be happy for you to discuss developing it with me. Contact me via  john.paine@naturistactiongroup.co.uk      John Paine

It was a meeting held by Zoom and discussed a number of current London matters. Planning for summer 21 activities was started. See attachment for meeting Notes

Good to see this policy. Any person using emails to and from NAG needs to note the section on not spreading personal email addresses. That is illegal, unles the person whose email address it is has given express permission and indicated that they are willing for this to happen.

This is not a rule made up by NAG, it is a legal requirement under the General Data Protection Regulations.

As lockdown restrictions begin to lift we are exploring what campaigning activities NAG can hold in London this summer.

If you have an interest in this, you do not have to live in London, please read details in the attachment NAG London Group action in 2021.

It would be helpful to know who is likely to be involved in the discussion on 10 April. If you cannot attend you may still like to make suggestions. Please contact me as indicated in the attachment.

Glenne, the editor writes

John Paine, Chairman of the Naturist Action Group in Britain, sent me this information about the good things NAG are doing in promoting the naturist lifestyle in the UK…

NAG continues to forge ahead with campaigning, even though we cannot hold physical meetings under UK lockdown rules. In December we made a 19-page submission on Hate Crime action against naturists to the UK Law Commission. They have an Inquiry into how UK Hate Crime laws need to be updated.

There is constant update on NAG initiatives on our website www.naturistactiongroup.co.uk It is free to see the many items posted there, and you only need to register as a NAG Supporter if you wish to post a comment.

NAG Campaigns. / Re: Fraisethorpe beach sign.
« on: February 03, 2021, 09:51:37 PM »
Keep up the good work Philip! Others might like to look for inappropriate signage at beaches in their coastal areas.

NAG has recently identified the need for a national campaign for beaches to be clothing optional. See the 3 January 2021 post by Duncan Heenan. We need to start by drawing up a list of contact details where local beach support groups operate. They, in turn, may be able to offer guidance to others wishing to explore setting up a new group.

If you have comments, or may be able to help with this campaign, please respond to Duncan's post.

NAG Campaigns. / Non-confrontational naturism
« on: February 03, 2021, 09:40:04 PM »

Picking up the point in Duncan Heenan's 3 January 2021 article, on Campaigning for clothing optional beaches, it is important that ' We ' practice non confrontational naturism in public places to advertise its freedoms and pleasures, and to teach the public it is not ' naughty '. Even encourage others to have a go!  The important thing is to do it calmly and not in a way to attract attention or reaction.

When on a lightly populated beach, my wife and I set up our folding chairs close to the waters edge - you have to look very hard to notice you are naked when sitting in a chair!

When it is ' swim time ' we calmly walk down and into the water without noise or ' dancing '.  Others on the beach will be engrossed in their own activities not to notice.

The view from the side or behind is no different from someone wearing an ' acceptable ' thong, anyway!

Coming out of the water, well check no one is walking past, and then again come out without encouraging notice.

An all over tan with no white bits to advertise you are naked, helps.

Unfortunately just one visible sexual activity by others cancels many good experiences !

Hate Crimes Archive. / Re: Can you help our NAG submission on Hate Crime?
« on: October 24, 2020, 11:39:10 AM »
It is possible for details of hate against naturists instances to be given to our Hate Crime Team in confidence. Even if a prosecution has led to court action currently under way then the matter can be referred to in the NAG Submission, without details, as being sub judice.
It is important to provide as many instances as possible from around the UK to substantiate our suggested need for naturism to be legally included in the Hate Crime list.
Any NAG Supporter who has expertise which could help in drafting our Submission is particularly welcome. John Wood and the NAG team would appreciate such help.

NAG Campaigns. / Re: Fraisethorpe beach sign.
« on: October 24, 2020, 11:20:26 AM »
Good work Philip!
I am glad that you are exploring this issue locally. We have a history in the UK of the authorities trying to deter normal naturist activity at various beaches. Have you had any response from Ryedale Naturist Club or Fraisthorpe United Naturists about their possible involvement in joint action?
I am aware that there was heavy-handed police action at that beach a few years ago. Are there any current issues about sexual activity by people who are not naturist there?
